Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Ishaq Modibbo-Kawu disclosed this on Tuesday in Port Harcourt at the opening of the 71st General Assembly of Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) Giving the breakdown, Modibbo-Kawu  said that the president approved 147 new FM radio licences; 23 DTT Television licences , 3 new national radio network licences and 2 national television licences. He said the commission had also received presidential approval for 16 campus radio stations; 24 community broadcasters and 3 public organisations FM licences. The Director-General said the total of 213 licences were the single largest number of stations ever licensed at any point in Nigeria Broadcasting history. He reiterated the importance of BON as an umbrella body for all the broadcasting outfits in the country. From daily post.

Oprah's niece , Alisha Hayes , posted that Vernita  Lee died on Thanksgiving Day. The family has confirmed the death and also confirmed a private funeral has already been held. Vernita was born in 1935 in segregated Mississippi. She met Vernon Winfrey and they gave birth to Oprah in 1954. Vernita is survived by Oprah and Patricia Amanda Faye Lee and grandchildren Alisha Hayes, Chrishaunda Lee Perez, Aquarius Lofton and Andre Brown, as well as great - grandchildren Jaxon Praise Perez, Chai Theresa Perez, Donovan Hayes and Trinity Hayes. The Nigeria Customs Service, Tin Can Island Command, on Friday announced it had intercepted 11 40-foot containers and two 20-foot containers of Tramadol. While announcing the seizure to journalists in Lagos, the Deputy Controller-General in charge of the Enforcement, Austin Chidi, who represented the Controller-General, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd.) , listed other pharmaceutical products, including Ciprofloxacin capsules, Diclofenac sodium tablets, Soffeathe I.V cannula, Sildenfil citrate tablets among the drugs seized. He put value of the total items , including bleaching soaps and used clothing at N3.13bn. Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello on Wednesday promised a N100 million reward to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of those that killed Malam Yusuf Adabenege, his Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism. A statement signed by Alhaji Abdulmalik Abdulkarim, Director-General , Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, said that Bello made the promised on Wednesday in Okene, while on a condolence to the deceased aide's family. The statement advised anybody with such information to reach the governor directly, through his phone lines, or get in touch with the security agencies. "Such information can also be channeled through any of the governor's political appointees," the statement said. The 37 year old Inspiration FM's on-air personality, Oluwatosin 'Tosyn' Bucknor , was reportedly found dead by her husband, Aurelien Boyer, when he arrived home from work on Monday night. The news was confirmed by her former colleague at Top Radio, Wale Adigun , via his twitter handle. He wrote; "So full of life, excitement and always willing to lend a helping hand. This is devasting! Rest on voice of Lagos. Rest on Tosyn Bucknor." The media personality, a graduate of law from the University of Lagos, was born with sickle cell anemia.
