Sultan of Sokoto daughter graduates from UK University

Fatima Abubakar who is one of the daughters of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar, graduated from a UK university last Thursday July 20th. Her father and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II attended her graduation.

Director-General of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Ishaq Modibbo-Kawu disclosed this on Tuesday in Port Harcourt at the opening of the 71st General Assembly of Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON) Giving the breakdown, Modibbo-Kawu  said that the president approved 147 new FM radio licences; 23 DTT Television licences , 3 new national radio network licences and 2 national television licences. He said the commission had also received presidential approval for 16 campus radio stations; 24 community broadcasters and 3 public organisations FM licences. The Director-General said the total of 213 licences were the single largest number of stations ever licensed at any point in Nigeria Broadcasting history. Just In: 3 persons confirmed dead, 12 rescued in Lagos boat tragedy

The Lagos State Emergency Management  Agency (LASEMA) , has disclosed that a boat enroute Ojo from Liverpool capsized a few minutes after take off at about 8.00pm on wednesday. General Manager of the agency, Adesina Timayu, who disclosed this on Thursday, said the LASEMA Response unit officials who got to the scene of the incident almost immediately discovered the boat carrying 20 passengers capsized between Liverpool and Coconut under the bridge. Futher information from the officials of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LSWA) , revealed that twelve of the passengers were rescued alive with the assistance of local divers while three of the passengers on board, comprising two males, one female were confirmed dead.
