later diagnosed with growth hormone deficiency. 13 years later,
FCBarcelona, having agreed to pay for the treatment, relocated him to
Catalonia(Spain). And that is where it all went on...
From that short stature to improper physical condition to home sickness, you had all the odds against you but you turned out to be greatest player of all time(the G.O.A.T, as they say), arguably for some, undisputedly for us.
Despite your injury prone career, you made your mark with goals, records, trophies and what not. For fans like us, ofcourse your records and your wins count a lot, but the reason why we love you is something else. It's becuase of the magic you create with the ball, making everything look so easy, so beautiful. Every touch you make on the ball is smooth and creative..and cheered, and why not!? you deserve it. That signature dribble into the middle of the pitch from the right wing, that audacious chip over the goalkeeper's head, those sweetly timed nutmegs through the minimal of spaces..we enjoy it all.
You have your duties and privileges in football. But for a football fan, you have done more than what we can ever wish for. You don't need to prove anything anymore with a couple more trophies. You have shown your love for football and excelled in it. That is an inspiration in itself.
They say, you don't talk much. They are wrong. You've been preaching to us all along. You've been showing us all, that the only secret to get that goal is to NOT GO DOWN, no matter how many tackles you get, how much things pull you back and kick you. You are a footballer to be loved, yes, but a man to be respected more.
